According to a Gallup survey, the two biggest issues Americans consider most urgent are government and leadership.
Asking for their opinion on the nation’s most pressing problem, 21 percent supported the support of government/poor leaders, who ranked the highest. It is six percentage points higher than those who stated the same last November and December.
Inflation and the economy were tied for the most significant issues in December and November, with 16 percent each. However, it has now fallen to second place, with 15% of respondents naming it the number one issue. Economy came in at third with 10% choosing it to be the most important issue. It fell six places. A further six percent agreed. “unifying the country” is the top issue, followed by five percent who said race relations/racism, five percent who said poverty/hunger/homelessness, four percent who said crime/violence, and four percent who said ethical/moral/family decline.
Both Republicans (24 percent) and Democrats (18 percent), identify the government as the biggest problem in the country. While Republicans prioritize immigration (18% each), 11 percent Democrats see inflation as their greatest concern. Nine percent cited race relations and the economy as their top priorities.
This survey was completed among 1,011 adults between January 2-22nd, 2023. It has a margin of error of +/- 4percent.
It is notable that none of the top topics identified in the survey had to do with climate change, or the prioritization of green energy, even though President Biden recently promoted $87,000 for EVs.

Also, the survey is coming on the heels Biden’s backtrack over gas stoves following Richard Trumka Jr., Consumer Product Safety Commissioner floated the idea of banning them. As the survey shows, Americans do not appear to be worried about the gas stoves, either, despite the Biden administration’s apparent, yet failed, attempt to zero in on that issue.
