President Joe Biden misstated the Catholic church’s teaching on abortion Thursday, speaking as a “practicing” Catholic.
After Sen. Lindsey Graham (R. SC) presented a bill to make abortions illegal in the first 15 weeks after a pregnancy, President Obama addressed abortion at New York City’s fundraiser.
“I’m talking about no exceptions — rape, incest — no exceptions, regardless of age,”Biden recalled a story about a girl aged 13 who had been raped and was now pregnant.
“My generic point — and I happen to be a practicing Roman Catholic — my church doesn’t even make that argument now,” Biden added.
But, The Catechisms for the Catholic Church is clear. “human life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception”Even cases of rape or incest.

Biden claimed that Republicans have grown “more extreme” in their defense of life, even though Graham’s proposed law would make exceptions for rape, incest, and life of the mother.
Graham’s proposed abortion ban after 15 weeks is more permissive than the abortion laws in France, which prohibit abortions after 14 weeks.
Biden said that any Republican bill restricting abortions would be stopped from reaching his desk.
“Well, the good news is — for me, anyway — I’m going to be around at least for another two years, so he can pass or it not, I’m going to veto it,”He stated. “It’s not going to happen.”

Biden continues claiming he is a practicing Catholic, despite defying the Church’s teaching on abortion.
Biden directly rebutted Catholic teachings in September and stated that he didn’t believe that human life started at conception.
“I respect those who believe life begins at the moment of conception and all … I respect that. Don’t agree. But I respect that,”He stated.
