House Republican leaders on Thursday morning unveiled to GOP members at a conference meeting the party’s new “Commitment to America” agenda, a core group of policies that fit on a pocket card designed to help them and their candidates communicate the GOP’s vision effectively in the midterm elections.
Kevin McCarthy, the House Republican Leader and 30 of his closest colleagues will be traveling to Pittsburgh on Friday to officially present the vision to American citizens. Members were able to see it in action on Thursday at their conference meeting.
This agenda was the result of many years of effort by congressional Republicans to refine through issue-specific task teams their vision on core issues such as the economy, criminality, public safety, education and good governance practices. It also represents one of the most aggressive moves by the GOP to date in terms of the party’s push to lean into culture war issues like immigration, crime, and national security as well as combating the radical left’s views on things like transgenderism and education.
Breitbart News on Scribd: Preamble
This two-page pocketcard, which was published here, was given to House Republicans on Thursday. On Friday, McCarthy will then lead them in rolling out the card for the general public at an outside metal sheet work plant. The pocket card is not the only thing that was included. A preamble of one page outlined the GOP vision, explaining how Democrats failed to solve the issues in Washington, and the reasons why they are the best party to represent the interests of American workers and their families in Congress.
Both sides of the card have GOP pledges. On the bottom is a QR code which takes users to a site that includes the full agenda of Republican task forces.
The first time this has happened since 1994, when Newt Gingrich was the Speaker. “Contract with America”House Republicans have united behind a single agenda for the midterm election. That vision in 1994 — rolled out on Sept. 27, 1994, on the East Front of the U.S. Capitol — led to a GOP wave victory that saw Republicans win power in the lower chamber of Congress for the first time in decades.
This vision, being formally introduced to the public on Sept. 23, 2022, a few days before Gingrich’s was, is meant to help guide and spur a similar wave victory — and then guide Republicans when they get into power around a core set of principles and operating procedures.

McCarthy had first discussed this in an exclusive On the Hill video special interview with Breitbart News recorded in December 2021 in Washington, DC — the interview was published in January 2022 — and now, the work is finally coming together. But just because the broader commitment to America was not published until now does not mean the engines feeding it — McCarthy’s task forces — have not been hard at work pumping out clear GOP visions on their specific issue sets.
It opens with the statement that Republicans are going to fight inflation by cutting wasteful spending by government and offering regulatory reforms that will encourage higher wages and job creation. The GOP is also claiming that it will restore America’s energy independence and lower gas prices.
Although these seem like typical Republican positions, they are actually more populist as it claims that Republicans will promote policies. “end dependence on China”U.S. Supply Chains should be strengthened
“Move supply chains away from China, expand U.S. manufacturing, and enhance America’s economic competitiveness and cyber resiliency,”It says.
The next topic is immigration and crime. Perhaps the most notable is that the Republican Party officially supports a national E-Verify system to prevent companies from employing illegal aliens. This program, it claims, will be preferred by Republicans. “require legal status to get a job.”It states also that Republicans will “eliminate welfare incentives”For illegal aliens.
The Republicans support a nationwide program to hire 200,000 police officers across the country, with bonuses for potential recruits. The document also states that Republicans will “crack down on prosecutors and district attorneys who refuse to prosecute crimes, while permanently criminalizing all forms of illicit fentanyl.”
Under the national security section — still on the front side of the pocket card — Republicans call for the creation of a “Select Committee on China.”
Backside of the card starts with education. Republicans promise the passage of a “Parents’ Bill of Rights”For school selection and learning recovery after the closures of schools due to the Democrat lockdowns in the Coronavirus pandemic.
Republicans are now directly facing the madness of transgenderism. “Defend fairness by ensuring that only women can compete in women’s sports,”The Commitment to America document states.
Republicans offer personalized care for health care “to provide affordable options and better quality, delivered by trusted doctors”And to “lower prices through transparency, choice, and competition, invest in lifesaving cures, and improve access to telemedicine.”
The Republicans promise then to face Big Tech and say they will “provide greater privacy and data security protections, equip parents with more tools to keep their kids safe online, and stop companies from putting politics ahead of people.”
The next section outlines the Republican pledges to “preserve our Constitutional freedoms”They specifically state that they will “uphold free speech, protect the lives of unborn children and their mothers, guarantee religious freedom, and safeguard the Second Amendment.”
They then promise to “hold Washington accountable,”Make a pledge “conduct rigorous oversight to rein in government abuse of power and corruption, provide real transparency, and require the White House to answer for its incompetence at home and abroad.”
Last section states that the GOP will stop proxy voting among members of Congress, and promote election integrity measures like voter ID and monitoring.
