Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol Agents encountered several large groups of migrants illegally crossing Mexico’s border into Texas. They included more 500 migrants and 146 unaccompanied children.
Rio Grande Valley Sector officers encountered 512 migrants during the 48-hour period ended June 16th, according to Border Patrol records. They included migrants from Cuba and Central America as well as South America.
RGV agents met 3 large groups of people in Starr, Hidalgo and Hidalgo counties over a 2-day period. They had 512 apprehended.

Agents said that there were 276 family units and 146 unaccompanied children migrants. There was also 90 single adults.
Rio Grande Valley Sector Agents encountered over 100 large groups in Fiscal Year 22, which started on October 1, 2021.
“The logistics required to transport and process groups of this size continue to place a strain on manpower and resources, as often they are encountered in desolate areas often inaccessible to large transport vehicles,”Officials stated. “A group of more than 100 migrants is considered a large group.”
Del Rio Sector, West Texas is being affected also by large-scale migrant group crossovers. Breitbart Texas reported that Del Rio Sector officials had reported nearly 1,800 migrants being apprehended in large numbers in one day on June 19.
One group, which was apprehended in Texas near Normandy (Texas), had 500-plus migrants.
On Father’s Day, Eagle Pass Station, Texas National Guard, and a local sheriff’s office deputy encountered a group of at least 400 migrants who crossed near Normandy, Texas.
According to the Southwest Land Border Encounters report, 44,388 migrants were taken into custody by Del Rio Sector agents in May. This huge group continued to increase in number on Sunday morning.
