Florida Republican Representative Maria Salazar found herself outside of her element as she appeared in Davos, Switzerland, for the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting. Assisting Sens. Joe Manchin, D-WV (I-AZ) was her choice to represent her new crusade.
While speaking to Americans from Switzerland isn’t easy, she made her point crystal clear. “We need to also give dignity to those people who are in the country and those are the people that I represent. We’re talking about 13 to 15 million people — who are, most of them, Hispanics, I would say 85 percent who speak my language, look like me, and sound like me — who are contributing to the economy of this country and they live in the shadows.”
She’s not completely wrong about her statistics. We have estimated that 13-15 million people are Hispanic. It is somewhat exaggerated that she claimed that 85% of the population speak, hear, and look just like her.
They speak Portuguese and a variety of dialects. There is also a significant population of people from Asia, Middle East and Eastern Europe. Depending on where you live in the US, this percentage can vary. It would likely be incorrect in East LA, Miami or Miami. That percentage changes significantly in NYC and Denver.
She wasn’t done there, though. “So it’s time to seal the border … let’s see who comes in and who doesn’t and then turn around and give dignity, that doesn’t mean a path to citizenship, that means to include them and make them dignified members of our community.”She is following the same path as six Republicans last year in bringing it up.
They would offer amnesty to illegal aliens by granting 10-year work permits to illegal immigrants to keep American jobs. After that, they could apply to the US for green cards to become permanent citizens. This type of change would have a negative impact on the American labor market, and encourage more illegal immigration. They think that the numbers coming to America are huge. “amnesty”It is quite alarming.
Salazar received millions of campaign funds. Her largest donors are the developers and real estate agents who wish to construct housing. Another group that appears to be linked with Wall Street seems to believe that an increase in consumers and more workers can save the economy are also included on her list. They clearly have a direct influence on her thinking and the way she views things.
It isn’t the solution to the US immigration crisis that illegal immigrants are running, jumping and swimming over the borders. Both aren’t giving them amnesty. It won’t solve the problem, and it becomes the book “If you give a mouse a cookie”Globally. People like Salazar don’t see the problems that come from illegal immigration, they don’t see the struggle it creates or how the reality of their decisions impacts American lives.
It is easy to sympathize with illegals, but it’s not difficult to ask why they don’t stop in the first place that is safe. Many illegals from El Salvador and Venezuela are now in Mexico.
That wasn’t good enough for them, so they pressed forward to the US. It is a violation of previous agreements that they had made with other nations. Furthermore, the US does have the legal right to take them in legally or grant them amnesty. But President Biden, and his supporter are happy to turn it over.
Plans like Salazar’s will turn the US into a revolving door where laws don’t matter. If we decide to do as she wishes, the Canadian and Mexican border passport requirements can be dropped. It’s not like they would be needed anyways.
