Daniel Puerta Johnson was an introverted but kind teenager.
His friends would often go to him for relationship advice, Daniel’s father, Jaime Puerta, told Fox News. Daniel was just 16 when the COVID-19 pandemic reached its peak. He made contact with a Snapchat dealer to get help.
Daniel had been suffering from depression since March 2020. To self-medicate, he was looking for an oxycodone tablet.
Jaime found it suspicious that Daniel requested to walk the dog with Jaime.
FENTANYL SURGES CREATES WARNINGS FROM LAW ENFORCEMENT: ‘THE BORDER COMING TO YOU’
Puerta stated that Daniel received oxycodone when he was just a teenager.
Jaime was pleasantly surprised to find everything normal at their dinner later that night. Jaime recalls that the two enjoyed a wonderful evening together. Daniel hugged Jaime and gave him kisses on both cheeks before saying goodbye, just like he always did.
Jaime discovered Daniel’s body in his bedroom the next day. The overdose of fentanyl caused the death of his only child. Jamie was among the 70,000 Americans who died between December 2020 & December 2021. Many of these children were under 18, like Daniel, and had tried to take a fentanyl-laced pill for the first times.
“He was just an innocent kid. He made one dumb decision, and he died. Daniel didn’t deserve to die. We’re not supposed to bury our children,”Fox was heartbroken by the sudden death of his son Puerta said.
Puerta was a U.S. Marine veteran and is now the president of an advocacy group for victims like Daniel. Puerta spreads awareness to ensure other parents don’t have the same experience as his. Victims Of Illicit Drugs is the name of his group, also known as VOID.
According to some experts, the problem of fentanyl has been deemed a national security concern due to state-sponsored attacks.
Puerta also agrees.
“Is this a way of China attacking our democracy? I would think so. There’s so much fentanyl right now in this country that it’s enough to kill every single man, woman and child in the United States,”Puerta stated.
China is still the main source for fentanyl. This drug kills over 100 Americans every day. According to the Drug Enforcement Administration, China is still the largest global supplier of fentanyl.
There are two ways to get the drug to America. You can either ship it to the U.S. You can send your drugs directly by international mail. To help with customs clearance, some Chinese sellers may label deadly drug shipment with Spanish-language ads. U.S. lawmakers claim the Chinese crime syndicates are aware of the Communist Party.

Traffickers then take the drug to Mexico and attempt to dilute it. It’s then smuggled across the border into the U.S., where they are already partnered with distribution networks. The money laundering networks at the ends of the supply chain allow these drugs to be delivered to America’s youth unaccountably.
AS FENTANYL DEATH CLIMB, DRUG CARTELS TARGET OUR PRECIOUS TEENS
“The Chinese Communist Party is involved in just about everything economically, business-wise, coming out of China, and you have Chinese scientists that have partnered up with the cartels,” Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn, told Fox.
Blackburn has teamed with Democratic Sen. Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut to sponsor the bipartisan Kids Online Safety Act of 20202. According to advocates, the U.S. government must view it as a matter of national security.
“Fentanyl isn’t being sold in any other country in the world other than the United States and Canada,”Fox spoke with Gretchen Peters (executive director, Alliance to Counter Crime Online). “It’s flooding into these countries and, at first, I thought it was an exaggeration that this was in some way state sponsored. Now, I’m not so sure.”

In August 2021, the State Department offered a $5 million reward for information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of People’s Republic of China national Zhang Jian, the leader of the alleged Zhang Drug Trafficking Organization in China.
Zhang was the principal organizer and leader of the crime organization that imported and distributed fentanyl to America between 2013-2016. This resulted in four deaths from overdoses, including one each in North Dakota, Oregon and North Carolina. The drug also caused serious health problems for five additional Americans.
MEXICAN DRUG ARTELS TARGET MONTANA WITH FENTANYL TRADE; OVERDOSE RISING: LAW ENFORCEMENT
China has officially stopped the production of Fentanyl under Trump’s pressure. This forced the Chinese drug makers into Mexico which now forms a major part of the supply chain.

In a statement, the spokesperson for China’s Embassy said that they had reacted.
“These assertions are highly irresponsible and utterly false,”According to the spokesperson. “Up to now, China has not found any scheduled precursor chemicals trafficked to Mexico or received any notification from the Mexican side about seizing scheduled chemicals originating from China.
“These fabricated allegations do not show any sense of responsibility for American victims of fentanyl abuse and their families. They also mislead both the Chinese and American public.”
Jaime Puerta suggests parents pay more attention to what their kids do on social media and to talk to them about it often.
“We only need one wrong decision to make sure we’re not dead. It’s almost unfathomable. It’s unconscionable. It’s unconscionable. I think our government must do something immediately.” Puerta said.
He wants Daniel to be remembered as a beautiful old soul.
“He wanted only to be good in the world.” Puerta said. “He wanted nothing more than that. He wanted to go onstage with his friends, and he did. He wanted to attend college and study systems engineering. He wanted to spend lots of time with the woman he loves. He wanted to live a comfortable life. It was all over. All of it was gone by the second. Now we must deal with the results.”
