According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Tuesday’s announcement by them revealed that an ex-prison supervisor in Alabama was accused of using excessive force against two prisoners.
Mohammad Shahid Jenkins was indicted for assaulting two prisoners in an attack in which he hit them and then sprayed with chemical spray. Another charge is that he misled investigators about the incident.
Jenkins did not know if he had a lawyer that could represent him.
Jenkins was accused in the indictment of abusing his right to exempt them from using excessive force.

Jenkins, in a 2022 case, is accused of punching an inmate and hitting him. He also sprayed him with chemical paint, struck him with a bottle of spray, then hit him with a shoe. He is also accused of hitting an inmate several times with chemical spray, as well as striking him with his shoe and using a can to spray it.
According to a Department of Justice news release, both were hurt in the incidents.
Jenkins was also indicted for two obstruction-related offenses. He is accused of falsifying the prison incident report on 2022 and engaging in misleading conduct towards federal agents interviewing him.
A lawsuit is being filed by the Department of Justice against Alabama’s prison system. It accuses the state of keeping male prisoners in dangerous and violent environments.
