Jay Leno suffers facial injuries after breaking several bones during a motorcycle crash

Jay Leno has broken several bones in his back two months after suffering serious burns to the face.

Former comedian “Tonight Show”Host told me a Las Vegas Review-JournalThursday columnist that he fractured his collarbone and 2 ribs. He also cracked his kneecaps January 17.

Both the November garage fire, and January’s wreck were a result of his love for old cars. While repairing the fuel lines on an antique car, he suffered burns to his chest, face and hands. The motorcycle was a vintage bike.

He told the Review-Journal’s John Katsilometes he was testing a 1940 motorcycle when he noticed the scent of leaking gas.

“So I turned down a side street and cut through a parking lot, and unbeknownst to me, some guy had a wire strung across the parking lot but with no flag hanging from it,” Leno, 72, said. “So, you know, I didn’t see it until it was too late.”

He insisted he was OK and would even be working this weekend, adding that the intense coverage of the November fire made him reluctant to say anything in the days since last week’s accident.

Leno took over NBC’s “Tonight”In 1992, Johnny Carson was made long-time host. He was succeeded by Conan O’Brien in 2009, but NBC got cold feet when the show’s ratings dropped and brought Leno back as host in 2010. He continued in his job until Jimmy Fallon succeeded him in 2014.

According to People, he was admitted for nine days following the fire. However, he was able to perform stand-up again at a club in Southern California six days later.
