Another proof point is this weekend that all the claims made by so-called box office experts are politically motivated lies.
For the last two years, as every woketard film flopped, instead of blaming the flop on the quality of the movie or its overall appeal, we’ve been told the flop is the China Flu’s fault. Old people are scared of dying and won’t go out to the theaterWe are told by them.
Breitbart News repeatedly debunked this lie. Now, we are back with another weekend of debunking it.
M. Night Shyamalan’s The Cabin is KnockIt was expected to be open between $21 million and $24 millions. The film ended up making $14.2 million instead. Could it be that people weren’t interested in a movie that offered up two gay dads as protagonists? It could, I believe. Hollywood often forgets that the appeal of any story is not just the characters. It is important to feel connected to the characters and see ourselves as they do. What number of gay dads are there in America today? Many people think they’ll one day become gay dads. There are not many. Is it possible to make someone uncomfortable with a same-sex romantic couple? Almost everyone.
Now we come to the lie about older people refusing to return to the movies…
80 for BradyThree actresses are over 80: Jane Fonda, Rita Moreno and Lily Tomlin. Sally Field is turning 77. Guess what? 80 for BradyIt was worth $12.5 Million this weekend. It attracted more people than ever because of the discounted tickets. The Cabin is Knock — 1.3 million to 1.1 million.
What? You’re right. A film starring elderly women drew more people than a horror movie directed by Dave Bautista or one of Harry Potter’s children. Is that even possible?
Well, duh… People of a certain age can Refer toA quartet of elderly ladies refuse to stay at home and wait for the inevitable death. Many old people desire to be vicariously experienced by others. Identify with living out one more crazy dream—in this case going to the Super Bowl.
Another old person’s movie is Tom Hanks’ Otto the Otto ManThe company has so far earned $53 Million.
People are hungry for Christian content, so the finale of season 3 is ChosenThe film grossed $5.3 Million and is free to stream on YouTube
Finally, there’s Last Wish for Puss in BootsThe stock fell 24 percent over its seventh weekend. That’s an amazing hold. It’s a non-woken sequel of a 10 year-old movie. The film grossed $151 million in the US and $217.3 millions overseas. That’s $369 million worldwide. Disney’s woke Lightyearglobal collapsed at $226 million and $118 million respectively. Disney’s woke Strange New WorldOnly $38 million was earned domestically and $73 millions worldwide. Gee, maybe we Trumptards are correct; maybe parents don’t want to leave the theater having to explain alternate sexual lifestyles to their five-year-old.
Hollywood’s woke crusade is costing them billions, and not just in production costs but the money left on the table. These woke flops could have been more profitable if the woke was extracted. What’s more, there’s the money lost on people who are fed up, who won’t go to the theater for any reason because they no longer trust the industry to do anything but shame and preach. Look at the Oscar-bait films that failed. That’s a Trust problemRight there. That’s your audience saying, If there’s Oscar talk around this title it must really stink.
It believes that it is able to win this battle of attrition. The entertainment industry claims it can do so by repetition. We get used to seeing two hairy men having an affair. Well, that’s not going to happen. You can’t rewire human nature and you can’t draw people to stories lacking in characters they can relate to or identify with.
These are the fundamentals of storytelling.
