The ebook was due again on the library in February 1927, Chris Kreiden, the library’s director, informed ABC Information. Employees had no thought of the ebook’s significance till Kreiden gave it an extra inspection.
“All of us are just, you know, wondering where the book could have been for so long, you know, from being checked out in 1927,” Kreiden informed KBMC. “And actually, none of us have seen a library book that was checked out in 1892 or anything else. And to have it be from this library from that far back is really incredible.”
The ebook belonged to Perry’s spouse till she handed away in 2015. Perry informed the St. Helena Star that he suspects the ebook was checked out by his late spouse’s grandfather John McCormick. He was a pioneer that settled within the Napa Valley within the 1840s.
Whereas the binding of the ebook was intact, Perry stated he was afraid to skim via the pages. The ebook is now being saved beneath a show case within the library.
