The data suggests that prices at discount stores are rising while Americans deal with inflation. Even though President Joe Biden, (D), attempts to prevent citizens worrying, the evidence is clear.
Dollar General data showed that costs had risen nearly 24 percent per Numerator. ALDI’s prices reportedly hit 17 percent, according to a CBS News article published Wednesday:
Leo Feler is chief economist at Numerator. The company tracks hundreds of million of receipts and says food inflation affects lower income individuals disproportionately. Higher income groups have more options.
“You can go from a Whole Foods to a Walmart, from a Walmart to a Dollar General,” Feler said. “Once you’re a low income consumer, you are already at the cheapest place that you can possibly buy food. And that just means that these stores have more pricing power.”
According to CBS, shops with lower prices raised food costs such as poultry, meat, fish and eggs at a faster rate than other grocery outlets.
Dollar General and Dollar Tree reported higher August second quarter sales as consumers looked for better options to provide their families with food.
Higher costs were also affecting supply chain efficiency, which was a problem for the stores.
Furthermore, “Americans struggled with higher food prices in July despite Biden’s White House claiming inflation ran at zero throughout that period,”According to Breitbart news.
KHOU reported that parents also struggled to pay for school supplies, as inflation has caused a financial burden.
“How do you not pay your electric bill because you’ve got to get school supplies? How do you not buy groceries for a week so that you have that extra budget? It definitely takes a toll, makes you feel like you can’t take care of your child in certain ways,”One mother said to the outlet:
Meanwhile, Biden has continued trying unsuccessfully to convince Americans there is no need to panic over inflation, Breitbart News’ John Carney wrote Monday.
Prices rose substantially in August, however. Therefore, “When Biden tells America that prices rising at an annualized rate of 9.2 percent is ‘just an inch, hardly at all,’ he might as well be telling people not to believe their lying eyes,”Carney stated.
