One girl, aged just 11, became the CEO of her multimillion-dollar company.
Mikaila Ulmer from Texas created her lemonade recipe and was awarded $11,000,000 by Whole Foods. Sun reported Sunday.
“I really love my new label,” Ulmer said when referring to her bottle’s branding in 2016. “It actually has my face on it, so it makes me feel really special.”
After her great-grandmother gifted her an old recipe book for flaxseed lemonade, the now-17-year-old had the idea to start her own company at four years of age.
The sweet treat was sold to customers thirsty outside her house. What is the special ingredient? Honey.
She was once stung by two bees and became terrified. She learned a lot about the importance of bees after doing research.
“So then I thought, what if I make something that helps honeybees and uses my Great Granny Helen’s lemonade recipe?”She wrote this on her website
My idea was to add honey from the bees instead of sugar to her lemonade. That’s how Be Sweet Lemonade was born! However, we had to change the name due to a copyright issue so we decided to call it Me & the Bees Lemonade because we give a percentage of sales to help save the bees. Today, it is celebrating over 10 years. “buzzness!”
You can find the sweet drink in many stores like Whole Foods Market and HEB stores as well as Kroger.
A promotional video from 2015 described the company’s mission:
This young lady travels to speak at events, and also leads workshops to help save honeybees. Yet she still manages to study hard.
